Aug. 19th 2018-Fuji-Hakone National Park – Sleeping at Ryokan
We left our hotel in Tokyo and traveled to Mt. Fuji by bus. We traveled up to level 5 the last level you could drive to and the take off point for climbers. It was foggy on the way up and it looked like we would not see any thing at all. At level 5 we broke out of the clouds and could see a good part of the top which had another layer of clouds. We traveled back down the mountain for a trip across Hakone Caldera Lake Ashi. From the lake we stopped at at a local craft workshop where they made wood items using layers of wood glued to make intricate patterns and also parquetry pictures. We got a demonstration by the artist of how the various pieces were made. At the end of the day we travel on to the hot-spring town of Hakone Yumoto and spent the night at a Japanese Ryokan Inn(traditional hotel).
