Dec. 29th 2018
40th Annual Aqua Pentathlon (First event in 1979 at Eastridge Kankakee, moved to Waubonsie in 1986). Swimmers compete in 5 events. 50 Free – each tenth of a second is worth 5 points, 100 Fly, 100 Back and 100 Breaststroke – each tenth is worth 2 points and the final event is 200 Free – each tenth is worth 1 point. The swimmer is challenged in 5 different ways with a sprint and a middle distance event as well as the ability to swim all strokes well. You need to be more than an IM swimmer.
Most Aqua Pentathlons are done as a 100 of each stroke and a 200 IM. The winner is the individual with the lowest combined time. I consider this as a broken 400 IM and a 200 IM swim. I feel this is really and IM meet. Yes there are 5 events but only one challenge -are you an IMer.
The images below are a sample of the nearly 300 images of Waubonsie Team members that participated in the meet this year.
